It can seem like there are only ever alcoholic drink options available at the Christmas parties. Maybe you want a hot chocolate, but there’s only a Christmas punch.
We’ve put together a list of 6 quick and easy, non-alcoholic Christmas drinks for you to create this holiday season. These recipes range from non-alcoholic cocktail classics to festive spritzers, so there is something for every kind of occasion and person!
6 egg yolks
½ cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups milk
2 cinnamon sticks
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp vanilla essence
To begin, whisk the sugar and egg yolks together in a bowl until the mixture has lightened in colour and turned creamy. Place to the side.
In a saucepan, over a low-medium heat, pour in the heavy cream, milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. Stir until all the ingredients are combined and the mixture is slightly steaming (not boiling).
Add one spoonful of the warm milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking quickly to combine. Continue this process until about half of the milk mixture has been added into the egg mixture.
Next, remove the cinnamon sticks from the milk mixture. Pour all of the egg mixture into the saucepan to combine with the remaining milk mixture.
For a few minutes, continuously whisk the combined mixture together until the mixture has thickened a little.
Remove the eggnog from the stove and stir in the vanilla essence.
Pour the eggnog into a jug, cover, and place in the fridge to cool down. For extra cinnamon flavour, add the sticks into the jug during this time.
Once the eggnog has cooled, remove from the fridge and serve! Add any toppings you prefer.
Virgin piña colada
150ml pineapple juice
50ml coconut milk
25ml lime juice
Cherry, for garnish
For the mock rum syrup
100g dark brown muscovado sugar
1 pineapple - a few strips of skin and leaves, for garnish
5 black peppercorns
1 cinnamon stick
For the mock rum syrup
On a low-medium heat, pour the sugar and water into a saucepan. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Add the strips of pineapple skin, black peppercorns, cloves, and cinnamon stick into the mixture and bring to the boil. Turn the heat off and leave until cold, so the flavours have time to infuse.
Strain the mock rum syrup into a jug, placing in the fridge until needed.
For the piña colada
Into a tall glass, pour the pineapple juice, coconut milk, and lime juice. Stir together gently.
Fill the glass with ice, slowly adding about 25ml of the mock rum syrup until it sinks to the bottom. Garnish with pineapple leaves and cherry. Serve and enjoy!
Non-alcoholic mulled wine
500ml pomegranate juice
25g golden caster sugar
A handful of frozen blackberries
250ml apple juice
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
3 black peppercorns
On a low-medium heat, put the pomegranate juice, sugar, blackberries, and apple juice into a saucepan.
Quarter the orange. Add the cinnamon, star anise, cloves, peppercorns, and orange into the pan and cook until the mixture is gently simmering.
Taste the wine for sweetness and strain into heat-proof glasses. Serve and enjoy!
Alcohol-free cranberry Christmas drink
100ml apple juice
100ml cranberry juice
Dash of lemonade
Handful of cranberries
Sprig of rosemary
In a glass, add the apple and cranberry juice, and lemonade.
Garnish with cranberries and rosemary. Serve and enjoy!
