Hello and welcome to Tobias Talks.

Here in the UK, this weekend will be the start of Autumn, and given the recent heatwave I say it can't come soon enough!

As planned I have been consistent with my running, keeping to low mileage at this point whilst all my joints and ligaments adjust to this new pavement pounding. I am still on the lookout for a new pair of running shoes with the Altra Via Olympus is still the front runner but with a £145 price tag it may be mid-winter by the time I can afford them! A new pair of shoes will probably do my joints good so will try and find a place to test them out before I commit.

I am still enjoying running but trying to walk more too! My goal is always to hit the step count that is recommended by my Garmin, it changes every day which I love as it presents something new each day and keeps me interested. I find it really useful to be directed what to do each day, it really makes it easier to stick to.

As the weather changes, the days are going to be colder and mornings darker so I will naturally move into the gym more, I am keen to try running on a treadmill as in the past I've never managed more than 5 or 10 minutes. I will be trying to find some sort of 3 day a week weight lifting plan as I think having a set routine will help me out, I think a bit of flexibility will be beneficial too. Essentially having 3 workouts each week but the specific order and dates are up to me. Think that will work well for me.

I have maintained my weight this week, which makes sense as I haven't been tracking what I eat. This will start again today! At least for the week, I will lose 2lbs this week. Just to prove to myself that I can!

So that's essentially the update for the week, run, walk, eat whole foods, and think about a plan for the coming colder weather.

Your friend, Tobias.
