The first hurdle

Hello and welcome to Tobias Talks

In short, it was a hard working and health conscious week that led into a very boozy and sleep deprived weekend.

I had intended to start today with the first training run of a new 10k program, it's a simple run of 5 minute warm up, 30 minute run then a 5 minute cooldown. Instead, I overslept and was almost late to work! So the run has been pushed back until tomorrow, where I imagine I'll still feel fairly sluggish and heavy but I have to get back to work on improving my fitness and running ability without any further delays!

The order of today is a lot of water, a small lunch and for dinner I'll be making a massive salad to try and force feed my body with nutrients and vitamins and flush out all the horrible toxins I have ingested over the last couple of days. I will also prioritise sleep and make sure I am in bed by 10pm with an alarm set for 06:30 so I can get up, warm up, workout and shower afterwards before work.

I am nervous for my run tomorrow as I know that I have hindered my recovery with cigarettes and low quality food. I can only do my best and give it all I've got, I'll be aiming for 07:00/km which isn't fast for an experience runner, but for myself could be a real struggle to maintain that pace for the 30 minutes. I try and keep calm and focus on my breathing and hopefully with a bit of grit I'll be able to hang on to the finish.

I am excited to get back on track with my half-marathon training and I am still looking for an interesting 10k race that I can do sometime during the winter, as an interim goal. The main goal is still to raise £400 for my chosen charity, Children with Cancer UK. I can't imagine a mort worthy cause than helping children fight the absolute bastard that is cancer.

if you are reading this and would like to help towards my goal, you can make a donation here.

Thanks,

Your Friend, Tobias.
